INFO: Print & Cut for Legacy Roll Cutters using the GoSign plugin for Adobe Illustrator to create files for processing in Summa WinPlot.

Modified on Mon, 7 Oct at 4:49 PM

Most Summa roll cutters manufactured prior to June 2006 are not supported by Summa GoSign software.

These cutters may be driven by Summa Winplot software available at

https://www.summa.com/en-us/support/software-firmware/

Although the Summa WinPlot plugin is no longer supported by current versions of Adobe Illustrator, a full print and cut workflow is possible by using the GoSign plugin for Adobe Illustrator to create print and cut files for processing in Summa WinPlot.

It is assumed that Adobe Illustrator and Summa WinPlot have been installed and configured.

Go to https://www.summa.com/en-us/support/software-firmware/ and download the GoSign Tools installer. The GoSign application is not needed.

Watch the installer’s status window to confirm that the Adobe Illustrator plugin is successfully installed.

Launch Adobe Illustrator, then select File: Summa GoSign/New from Template

Swap the names of the “Thru-cut” (100% Blue) and Kiss-cut” (100% Red) spot color swatches in the palette so that 100% Red is used for “Thru-cut”. This step is necessary to enable use of the FlexCut function in Summa WinPlot.

C:\ProgramData\Summa GoSign Tools\Templates\Adobe Illustrator\

Open Adobe Illustrator and select File: Summa GoSign/New from Template.

Add work to the new document in the Print Data layer.
